Welcome to The Benjamin Chronicles, a collection of short stories featuring Benjamin and a variety of women who should probably know better.
Harriet is offered below with our compliments. After that, it is $2.50 to read the remaining stores while $8.00 gets you all of my books here, including the next year’s All The Things. Click here to become part of the family.
The Benjamin Chronicles
Harriet: It’s a Family Affair
Harriet, her daughter Brenda and her mother Joan are all completely made-up characters. Only Harriet’s payments to Benjamin are based in reality.
Anna: Let’s Get a Room and Talk About Your Raise
The woman who inspired Anna was also a security officer at a luxury hotel. The Liz character was, more or less, inspired by a real person, too. The pretty funny cuff key incident really happened, too.

Part II
Part III
Madeline: Married…Bored…You Know
Madeline is a composite of assorted women we’ve known in her situation. The scene at the bar really happened.

Part IV
Emily: Lights, Camera, Dildo
Emily is another character stolen lock, stock and barrel from someone we know. She has inspired other characters used under another pen name.

Part III
Courtney: Daddy Issues, Anyone?
Courtney’s name and hair color were changed to protect the horny.

Part II
Haley: That’s What BFFs Are For
The real-life Haley was the real-life Courtney’s BFF.
Part I
Part II
Elaine: Sex and the Single Ambassador
The Elaine character is based on a real US Ambassador. The story is – mostly – made up.

Part IV
Valerie: Robbing The Cradle Before Dementia Sets In
The opening scene really happened and, since we eavesdropped, is quoted almost verbatim.
Part I
Part II
Danielle: Like Mother, Like Daughter, Et Al
Unlike her relatives in another story, Danielle was inspired by a real person. Because I never knew her all that well and she’ll never read this, the name remains unchanged.

Part II
Claire: A Love Story
A warm, funny story about Claire and Benjamin falling in love. In the beginning, Claire is homeless and Benjamin is, well, Benjamin. The initial meeting with Claire actually happened as described, as did the scenes from the AA rooms. Probably to show our high moral standards, it is the only story here without sex.
